Mets Tab Former Met as Their Pitching Coach!

The Mets have found their guy! Maybe. Who the fuck knows?! They have picked a pitching coach who has 1 year of pitching coach experience. Jeremy Hefner. Remember him?

Hefner spent his only 2 big league season with the Mets. In those 2 seasons he went 8-15 with a 4.65 ERA. He did make some history as a Met though.

He was the first pitcher in Mets history to hit a home run in the same game that he got his first MLB win. So he’s got that going for him, but not shit else.

After retiring, Hefner was an advance scout with the Twins for 2 seasons before becoming their assistant pitching coach.

The Mets have the potential to have one of the best rotations in baseball, but it seems like we have been saying that for like 5 fucking years now. The Mets have the talent to make a run, but the coaching staff needs to mold some of the talent, especially the pitching. He will have a lot of work to do with all starters not named Jacob deGrom and plenty of work with the fucking bullpen.

I will say, the last time the Mets hired a pitcher whisperer, it didn’t really work out for them. All we can do is wait and see how it all plays out.
