Unfiltered Heisman Rankings-Week 7

In the best week of college football so far this season, the stars showed the fuck out! There were some HUGE games this week and the spotlight was not too big for any of them! Wisconsin was in what many people considered an upset spot, but JT (and the defense) did not let that happen. LSU and OU played in huge rivalry games but their star QBs both led them to huge, convincing wins. One thing is clear through 7 weeks and that is that no one is going to know who will win the Heisman until their name is announced in NY.

1-Tua Tagovailoa-134/182 Passing, 2,011 Yards, 27 TDs, 1 Int, 2 Rushing TDs-Tua balled the fuck out again. He went on the road against a decent Texas A&M team and completely manhandled them. In their only real test before their meeting with LSU, Tua made sure there was no doubt they would be undefeated heading into that game. He threw for almost 300 and 4 TDs which just seems to fucking typical at this point for him. In my mind, Tua is the frontrunner, but any let up from him, or any crazy games from the next 3-4 guys can change that on a weekly basis. There is very little room for error in this year’s race but Tua looks primed to take it down this year.

2-Joe Burrow-148/186 Passing, 2,157 Yards, 25 TDs, 3 Ints, 2 Rushing TDs-Joey B. moves up to number 2 this week after completely dismantling one of the best defenses in the SEC. The Tigers had no issues moving the ball this week and at one point Burrow was like 14/15 on the game and it looked like he might not throw another incompletion. He finished the game with the same number of TDs as incompletions (3) and he has this offense clicking on all cylinders and currently leading the nation in scoring. Coach O has shaped a new culture at LSU and it is a fucking blast to watch!

3-Jalen Hurts-98/137 Passing, 1,758 Yards, 17 TDs, 3 Ints, 630 Rushing Yards, 8 TDs-In his first Red River Showdown Shootout, Jalen had himself a fucking day! He left a little to be desired and I really think he could have inserted himself to the top of this list if the TO bug didn’t strike. Hurts threw for 235 and 3 TDs, while rushing 131 more yards and another TD. Most importantly, he led his Sooners to a convincing win over their biggest rivals and pretty much solidified their spot in the BIG 12 Championship game. That extra game will help him in his case for a 3rd straight Heisman Trophy for Oklahoma.

4-Jonathan Taylor-129 Rushes, 825 Yards, 6.4 YPC, 14 TDs, 15 Receptions, 136 Yards, 4 TDs-JT23 did not have his best game this week, but he did enough to keep Wisconsin undefeated. He only ran for 80 yards and averaged under 4 YPC but he still managed to rush for 2 TDs. Taylor already has 18 total TDs this year and if he keeps this pace up he may surpass 40 TDs for the season and that might get him a trip to NY. Actually getting over 40 might actually win him this trophy. We will see, but Taylor is putting together a special season nonetheless.

5-Chuba Hubbard-162 Rushes, 1,094 yards, 6.8 YPC, 13 TDs-Hubbard is leading the nation in rushing by over 250 yards! He has been absolutely insane this year but he has gotten little national coverage because he plays for Oklahoma St. Well he needs to start getting talked about because he is on pace for over 2,000 yards and he may hit 30 rushing TDs as well. The only knock against him is that he is not involved in the passing game and it may come back to bite him in the ass in this race. He’s still a fucking freak though and he is someone to watch because all it takes is a 200-250 yard game to catapult him up this list.

5A-Justin Fields-98/141 Passing, 1,298 Yards, 18 TDs, 1 Int, 283 Rush Yards, 8 TDs-I realized that I could not take Fields out of the top 5, but I had to fucking get Hubbard on this list somehow. Fields may be the best player on the best team in the country which will definitely bode well for him down the stretch. He has a great arm and is quick as fuck, but he is not the only rushing threat on his team. His downfall compared to the other 3 QBs above him is that he has the best RB on his team. Certain days will require the Buckeyes to rely on Dobbins which will hurt Fields in this race. Either way, he is still a freak and he needs to be on this list for now.

Honorable Mentions

JK Dobbins-RB-OSU-826 Rush Yards, 6 TDs, 44 Receiving Yards, 1 TD

Justin Herbert-QB-Oregon-1,602 Passing Yards, 17 TDs, 1 Int

Sam Ehlinger-QB-Texas-1,658 Passing Yards, 17 TDs, 2 Ints, 227 Rush Yards, 5 TDs

At this point, any one of these 9 guys have some type of shot to win this award. Some will have to have bigger games than others to make a move, but all it takes is on huge game from any of these guys to put themselves squarely into the conversation. Get your fucking popcorn ready people!
