The College Football season is now 3 weeks in and we have a pretty good idea of who is going to compete for the Heisman. Of course a ridiculous fucking performance from anyone across the last 4-5 weeks of the season can catapult someone into the conversation (Kyler Murray last year) but the most likely finalists will probably come from this group.
1-Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma: 49/61 Passing, 880 Yards, 9 TDs, 0 Ints, 38 Rushes, 373 Yards, 4 TDs-Jalen has been fucking incredible since joining Oklahoma. I mean it might not be a surprise to anyone since he was 26-2 as a starter at Alabama, but what he has done at OU has been fucking insane. Lincoln Riley may have a lot to do with this and it may get him an NFL job in the future, but for now it gets his QB to the top of the Heisman list.
2-Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama: 70/91 Passing, 1,007 Yards, 12 TDs, 0 Ints, 9 Rushes, 36 Yards, 1 TD-Tua has been Tua so far this season. Dropping fucking dimes left and right every single week. Just like last year though he has an OU QB to worry about. Tua has a chance to insert himself at the top of this list with some real tough matchups coming up, but at the same time those matchups could get him taken off this list too. I’ll take the former and say Tua at some point moves into the top spot.
3-Justin Fields, QB, Ohio St.: 52/74 Passing, 657 Yards, 9 TDs, 0 Ints, 25 Rushes, 114 Yards, 4 TDs-Justin Fields has shown OSU fans that he is the real fuckin deal. He transfered from UGA and took the job from touted Frosh Tate Martel and has immediately inserted himself into the Heisman conversation. They have some tough games ahead and if he performs in those he may leapfrog the field at some point.
4-Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin: 35 Rushes, 237 Yards, 5 TDs, 5 Rec, 65 Yards, 3 TDs-Taylor was on a bye this week but he did not lose much ground in this race. I honestly think this is a QB award and you need to have a ridiculous season as a RB to win but he is going to have a ridiculous season. I don’t think it will be enough, but his rushing stats are insane and he deserves to be in the conversation.
5-Joe Burrow, QB, LSU: 75/90 Passing, 1,022 Yards, 11 TDs, 2 Ints, 17 Rushes, 40 Yards, 1 TD-Joe Burrow threw himself into this conversation last week and made sure he stayed there with another 3 TD performance today. He has quite a bit of ground to make up, but that’s easy to do with a couple of big performances in the SEC. Keep your eye on Joe fucking Burrow over the next couple weeks because I think he is here to stay!
Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
Sam Ehlinger, QB, Texas
Jacob Eason, QB, Washington
Of course it is only week 3 and there is plenty of football left to play, but Hurts, Tua, and Fields have really separated themselves from the rest of the field. I know my first Heisman blog had Ian Book getting love from bettors in Vegas, but those people are all complete fucking morons! Ian Book will not be anywhere near any fucking Heisman convo all year long! He looks like a fucking chode so far and I do not see it getting much better.
