In my mind, Unitas is most famout for losing Super Bowl 3 to the goddamn Jets! They were huge favorites in that game and Broadway Joe dick slapped Unitas for the Jets only Super Bowl victory.
Condto one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game, Johnny Unitas did not start his career in that fashion. He was drafted by the Steelers in the 9th round of the 1955 draft. He was then cut by the Steelers and picked up by the Baltimore Colts to be a backup to George Shaw. Unitas got his chance after Shaw broke his leg. Unitas struggled in that 1956 season, but he was named the full time starter in 1957 and went on the win his first MVP. He also held the record for most consecutive games with a TD pass with one in 47 straight games. That record held for 52 fucking years before Drew Brees broke it in 2012.
We have 19 days left until the NFL regular season kicks off and here are some highlights of the greatest number 19 ever to get you ready for that Thursday night!
